1959 Fiat 600D
In Santa Barbara, where I lived for less than a year, I worked at a gas station. I lived in it, too, in a room at the back. After a while, I became the manager of the station, The Fisher Motor Company. An interesting guy, named Buck Fisher ran it. While I was there, I bought this for $100. I overhauled the tiny 600 cc engine in it and drove it all around Santa Barbara. I added an Abarth Exhaust system to it, so it had a nice, nasty exhaust blaatt. Also, notice the suicide doors. Take my advice, folks: don't buy one of these. It was one of the worst little vehicles I ever owned. Things got weird in Santa Barbara for me after a while, and I was still unsure of what to do, so I joined the USAF in 1965, figuring that would keep me out of trouble and away from Viet Nam. Both things were true. I sold this to someone for what I had in it.
