The car could be purchased with a variety of engines. Gas engines were Tecumseh and available in 340, 390 or 450cc, producing 12 to 16hp. Italian diesel and electric motor powered versions were also available. Power transferred through a variable ratio belt drive, as used in snowmobiles, provided automatic transmission. The rear pulley is mounted on a shaft, which transfers power to the rear wheel via chain drive.

No reverse was available, although it was listed as a standard feature for all Deluxe models. This was supposed to be a small motor drive, but gears could not be manufactured at an affordable price. A heater was available, which pumped engine oil through a filter, then through an under dash oil cooler. Some models had the oil cooler moved and a factory fan housing slipped over it. This helped keep the windshield clear.

At least 15 cars (probably 30) were electric, but none of the expensive diesels, nor any with the mid-sized 390 engine. There may be one electric in its original form. The 340 guaranteed 100 MPG at a steady 40 MPH, or your money back. OK GM, top that one!
